On the morning of 6 August 1945, Hashimoto Utaro and Iwamoto Kaoru were to enter their 3rd and final day of a Go match in the city of Hiroshima. The atomic bomb was dropped at 8:15 am, causing damage to their building which stood only 3 miles from the hypocenter of the blast.

Rather than stop play, the game was continued, with the series ending in a 3-3 draw. The image depicted on this shirt is the board position of the stones at the time the bomb was dropped.
